Sansa Stark's hair is so big, because it's full of secrets. Or dread. Or survival. Whatever. We aren't the only ones to notice the tell-tale signs of Sana's hair styles. Through her story lines on Game of Thrones, Sansa has had many powerful female role models, and her hair has mimicked those who influence her. Not convinced?
Arya and Sansa might not see eye-to-eye these days, but early in Season 1, they were both rocking the classic Northerner look when it came to their hair. Youthful and carefree, less like themselves in season 7.
By the end of season 1, Sansa isn't quite so carefree (yuck, Joffrey). Her hair mimics Cersei's, yet not quite as elaborate. Is the style copied out of admiration or fear? We say it's a survival tactic. They do say mimicry is the greatest form of flattery.
Ahh Margary. Not only did she save Sansa from the wrath that is Joffrey Baratheon, but she gave her someone to look up to. We love this simple beautiful look. Heck, we might even start doing our hair more like the ladies of Highgarden.
Then she was forced to marry Tyrion (we vote he's the best Lannister). Her hair was a simple statement -- the Lannister's own you. Not only was she forced to watch the terrible things the Lannister's deemed normal, but she morphed into a look-alike. "Throw some more gold on that, 'coz we're Lannister's and we like to show our wealth."
When Sansa returned to the North, she regained her inner-strength. You go girl! Finally away from the abuse and game-play, she braided her hair in the same war-ready way as her mother. We dig this.
Then back to Cersei, again. Ugh. But perhaps this time it's a sign she's ready to play the Game of Thrones. What do you think?
We'd be silly if we didn't also bring up the resemblance to Daenerys -- another war-ready look. These ladies are bosses! We can-but-can't wait for the final episode. Stuff's about to get reaaaaaaaal.
